Bramdean launches specialist property funds

Bramdean Asset Management LLP, the institutional multi-manager business, which launched in London last month, has appointed Tariq Rahman to manage two specialist property funds.

Rahman joins Bramdean from the Prudential, where he was a Director responsible for property investment in the City of London and in Scotland. He becomes chief executive of Bramdean Property Investment, reporting to overall chief executive Nicola Horlick.

The company plans to launch a core property fund and also an actively managed, geared, opportunity fund, which will be more dynamic than traditional property funds. Both will be open ended and are due to be launched in April. They will have a minimum investment of €125,000 and be targeted at institutional investors and wealthy individuals. The property team will also manage some segregated institutional accounts.

In addition to the property funds, Bramdean’s offering will include a range of multi-manager funds and the company will shortly launch four funds, covering UK and global equities and UK and global bonds. Bramdean also intends to offer private equity product and hedge fund products.

Bramdean Chief executive Nicola Horlick said: “We have decided to invest in property directly, as we believe we can achieve greater returns than are currently available to investors through as more aggressive and entrepreneurial approach. I am delighted that Tariq is joining us, as I believe that he has the necessary skills required to achieve our goals.”

Sir Derek Higgs is Bramdean’s Non-Executive Chairman, Tessa Franz-Marwick is Finance Director, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Compliance and Michael Kinney Head of Manager Research. Paul Osborne and Pippa Knight are Joint Heads of Institutional Sales.
